| Circumstances of Death: |
On 16 November 1973, LT Anders was a passenger aboard a C-2 aircraft
that had taken off from Souda Bay Airfield in Crete, Greece. The
pilot radioed that that aircraft had developed problems and he was
forced to ditch. Aircraft ditching took place approximately 5 NM
off runway 11 in Souda Bay. Lt Anders was killed in the crash in
the line of duty.
